YAY for a new chapter!!!! ;)

Im so proud to announce that I have finally made some changes to my website!

My blog was imported to a new server and you’ll see all my blog updates thru my website! Isn’t it awesome!? Yes! :)

So, your subscription to my new blog was most likely not imported with the contents, so if you could, head over to my New Blog and SUBSCRIBE!!!! :)

It will continue to be a WordPress blog… the only difference now is that you’ll constantly see new updates about my photo shoots… the whole purpose of putting my website and blog together was that I could constantly post new photos and continually update my portfolio… this way, you my followers and my clients and prospective clients can see my work fresh and updated!

I hope you like the new look so far… I am not 100% done, its a work in progress, but Im pretty happy with the results so far!

Body Back | Week 5

What a tough week for me.. personally! I hurt my back on monday [I can’t recall how, but I started feeling the muscle pain in the afternoon… when Tuesday came around, of course I thought that “maybe” I could just “call in” sick! LOL “maybe” that was just the excuse I needed to not come to class and stay home with the hubs and my baby girl… and then, I thought to myself… if I don’t push myself, who will? So, I took a Tylenol and got on my way… It was not an easy class and although the pain-killer helped I could still feel the pain [everywhere!]. After the class was over, I couldn’t be more proud of myself for not giving up! I completed 5 weeks of Body Back and I’m soooooo close to the end! yay!

So, here is the bad news… I didn’t lose any weight this week, in fact, I gained 2 ounces! [honestly, it was my fault, I had a bit of wine and popcorn when I went on a movie date night with my hubs last weekend!] I won’t kill myself for it, lets just move on, and keep going!

Anyways… I’ve told my contest ladies to follow my blog and I would be giving tips on things I learn at Body Back… here are a few things that I’ve learned this Body Back Session and that I’m committed to change in my life and my family lives. I have officially substituted

Splenda for Brown Sugar

– Rice (including brown rice) for Quinoa [cooks just like rice!]

White Flour for Wheat Flour (Cant wait to make cupcakes for Super Bowl MOO-HA-HA – GO PATS!]

I am no longer eating pasta (including wheat pasta) every week, in fact, we stopped buying pasta so I have no choice but not to cook pasta {insert smile here}.

So here we are on Tuesday class… killer class! [as you can see!]

 

Wednesday class was a bit special!  Let me rewind a little… on our 1st or 2nd week of Body Back, the instructor Ivie Claudio gave us an assignment to bring a photo that inspires us to be healthier and to complete Body Back. I brought a picture of me on my wedding day, and told her, “I would love to get back to that body I once had”. All the other ladies brought their pictures too, pictures of their kids, their husbands, magazines, and other people who inspire them.

So while in our circuit exercise, Ivie placed our pictures in front of us [to remind us of why we are doing this] and with our pictures, she also added a quote, an inspiration quote… and let me tell you: “It was definitely inspiring!”

My quote was “It’s never too late to become what you might have been” [WOW]

Body Back | Week 4

Thats right! Half way there! :)

 

I believe Im down 5 pounds… (the 5 pounds Santa brought me for Christmas!)

 

This week was not different… arms and legs… and a little extra “PLANKS!” [SIGH!]  \o/

 

 

 

 

We recently had a homework assignment. Write a break up letter to a food or habit of our choice.

Letter 1

Dear bagel with cream cheese…… I love you so very much. You are my very favorite food I could eat you for every meal every day. You taste so good yet you make me feel so fat this is why it’s time to say goodbye to you. You. You are so convenient to me, dunkin donuts has made it way too easy for me to eat you at any time of the day. I can even be lazy and go through the drive through :) you and I have had a great relationship for as long as I can remember and it has been great at times yet you have hurt me. You have helped make me fat and you have helped me in needing to buy new pants because my old ones no longer fit and this is why for at least the remainder of bb I’m giving you up. It won’t be easy but I’m a strong woman and I’m leaving you alone now! Go make someone else chubby now! Goodbye! :)

Letter 2:

Dear Yummy Chocolate Chip Cookies from McDonalds: OMG….you taste sooo amazing. You come in a convenient drive-thru (3) pack that I can devour in about 3 minutes. You are soft and gooey and amazing. You are unfortunately 200 Calories Per Cookie, so you are going to have to hit the road. If I could eat just one of your trio packs, then we’d probably be able to continue our relationship. One of you isn’t enough though and I have to give up my 600 Calorie indulgence. I will dearly miss you, but it is better this way. Have a nice life!

Letter 3:

Dearest Newcastle Brown Ale, Oh, how I love you so. You’re as smooth and delicious as chocolate cake. But, like chocolate cake, you go straight to my ass and I’ve quite frankly grown quite fond of what it looks like without you. I know we’ve had some good times together and you’ve been a refreshing relaxation, but I don’t need you anymore. I’m leaving you for a full time courtship with water. I know what you’re thinking; “how boring”, but water doesn’t leave me feeling like I’ve had a sandwich in every glass… and you hold me back from these short shorts that I want. Just sayin’… Now, now, don’t be upset; you’ll be just fine. I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding some skinny dude who looks like he could use a sandwich or two. Trust me on this one.

Letter 4:

Dear Chocolate I think we need to have a talk….yes….it’s over…… Yes we had many good times, and you always were there for me in good times and in bad. I know that you are Fantastic because you are so multi-talented… how you cool me off from the heat in ice cream, the way your M&M’s melt in my mouth and not in my hands, the sweet Hershey Kisses you give, how devilish you can be in cake, etc. etc. e just tell you that its not you…. its me!! I have decided to pursue a healthier path, and i’m sorry but you are now doing me more harm then good. If we continue it will be an unhealthy relationship! I would hate to lose you completely….. and would love nothing more to continue to be friends with your dark side, HOWEVER I ask that we keep it to seeing each other at a VERY minimum… and I mean VERY MINIMUM. Its been great!

 Let me just tell you that it’s not you…. it’s me!! I have decided to pursue a healthier path, and I’m sorry but you are now doing me more harm than good. If we continue it will be an unhealthy relationship!

 I would hate to lose you completely….. And would love nothing more to continue to be friends with your dark side; HOWEVER I ask that we keep it to seeing each other at a VERY minimum… and I mean VERY MINIMUM.

Letter 5:

Dear pre pregnancy clothes, Oh how I’ve missed you! I think about you every day – several times a day. I refer to you regularly and stare longingly at pictures of you that I have. We’ve had amazing times together – I have not forgotten! We traveled the world, went out and danced all night long and we’ve celebrated special occasions together. I want you to know that I am now focused on getting you back. I am sorry that I neglected you. I admit that I should have been able to wear you much sooner after my pregnancy was over. I realize now that I love you more than I love pizza, pasta, candy, wine and all my carb-loaded meals that just give me instant gratification. Don’t worry pre pregnancy clothes; I will wear you again soon. We still have more memories, more travels and more fun! I will reach my weight goal very soon and we will be reunited. See you soon!

Letter 6:

Dear White Rice, I’m very sorry… Ive been having an affair… yes, I’ve cheated on you! I always thought I couldn’t live without you, even though you make me feel heavy and over weight. I was feeling so dependable of you and this has made me depressed and uncomfortable with my own self. You make me feel like I always need more, and your wing man, Desert, who always follows you everywhere doesn’t make me feel any better. I’ve decided to leave you for now, I know I’ll meet you again, and might have a flash back with you, but don’t be too excited, it will be momentarily and I will not get back with you. So yeah, I’ve cheated on you, and I like it… His name is Quinoa, he makes me feel better about myself, and quit honestly, the black beans love him too. xoxo

Letter 7:

Dear Baked Macaroni and Cheese, You have been around longer than any relationship I have ever had. You have been there for me during breakups, late night drinking binges and two pregnancies. You are by far my favorite friend and so comforting in any time of need. I often think of you while asleep and wake up wanting to taste your cheesy goodness and have eaten half a tray of you before. I love you my cheesy friend and your carbs that make you taste even better. It is now time to say goodbye for a little while at least. Maybe I will see you again as a treat or have a little taste when I make you for my kids. As of now it has been 3 weeks since I have last made you and although I do think of you often I have moved on. Maybe I will see you one day again, especially if I get pregnant but for now it is farewell and have a nice life.

Letter 8:

Dear Snickers Ice Cream Bar, I don’t know quite how to tell you this, but our romance is over. I’m terribly sorry I had to do this through a letter, this didn’t need to be done, but I wanted to. This note will be the last memory you’ll ever have of me, I really don’t care for you anymore, I’ve moved on. Don’t let it get you all upset inside; we were not a good match. You have a history of lying and telling me that I won’t gain weight because of our time on the couch together.

You’d be much better off finding a person that can deal with the sweet way you needed to be near the freezer. I have to admit that I had some good times with you. We shared a lot of time on the couch watching mindless reality shows, but it’s time to move on. Since I left you outside of the freezer, your wrapper doesn’t seem to fit anymore, just saying.

I think I first knew that it was the beginning of the end when I started this change in my life 6 months ago. You don’t support me in my life change. You actually make my life harder.

I’m sure you are sensitive and open-minded enough to accept this decision that I have made. I hope this letter gives you some closure to our love affair. Ten years of dedication is enough to see that the acne you cause is terminally unattractive.

I’m returning the cable bill. I’ve cut him off too because I am dedicated to this change, but I’m holding on to my sanity. As a keepsake, I want you to know that I’ll always treasure Halloween and enjoy air-popped popcorn on that night. He is almost as good as you, but won’t slow me down.

Body Back | Week 3

Alright… week 3 – 4 pounds down! [25+ pounds down was our combine weight loss for the whole class! wow!]

I started the week right… Stroller Strides Class on monday was AMAZING! Full of new moms! [you have no idea how much I love working out with other moms… it makes me feel like Im not alone]

Here is a pic of us doing squats at the Tiffany & CO wall! LOL – and singing B-I-N-G-O and Bingo was his name oh! [FUN! – the kids love it!]

Here is a word that summarizes the past 2 nights of Body Back {INTENSE}

Tuesday… INTENSE ARMS workout… whew!

Talk about being sore…. my brachioradialis are sore! Your what? Yeah…  forearms muscles! LOL

Wednesday LEGS workout… once again… INTENSE!

We started with a little run outside to warmup! I jogged 0.34 miles without stopping! OMG!!! I know its probably nothing!!!!! But for someone that can’t run for nothing 0.34 miles felt like a marathon, and I can honestly say that Im sooooo proud of myself for keep going when I thought I had to stop! :)

Circuit… and I must say, it felt good! Stability ball, weights, step stool, and TRX! Whew [again!]

It feels good to be a Body Back-er!

Besides all the amazing workouts we do… one thing I haven’t told you, we also are assigned homework. Don’t be alarmed! Nothing like a 10 pages essay! This week’s assignment was to write a break up letter between me and a go to [bad] habit/food! Its due next week and I can’t wait to share all the amazing/funny letters these ladies are writing [with their permission].

For now… Im going to relax my sore muscles… take a warm long shower and stay healthy!

Body Back | Week 2

All you heard on yesterday’s class was…

“Oh sh*t!”

“Holy cr*p!”

“Ugh!”

“What the F**k!”

“Arrrgh!”

“Aaaaahhh!”

and Im not even making this up!

Class was so hard…. I don’t care how physically fit you are, you would be yelling too!

It was ARMS all the way… back, shoulders, biceps, triceps… and every other muscle in between!

Then… today comes along… we are all sore right? Who cares? Exactly… who cares? No-one! Good thing we did legs!

But wait… it wasn’t really a relief… working out legs didn’t make it any easier!

This woman… gives us disposable plates! Really! Disposable plates! And tell us to skate! Simple right? NO! Get 2 disposable plates, put it under you feet and go side to side, moving your arms, like if you are skiing! Do that for 1 minute non-stop! If it doesn’t hurt, you at least got you heart pumping!

If skiing was the only thing she made us do.. I would be content… but try planks with plates, abs with plates, squats with plates…. and the list keeps going!

Thankfully we finished with meditation [<insert breath of relief here>] and deep breath in… and breath out…

This year Im offering a FREE photo session to the lady who impresses me the most! Its not who loses the most weight or inches… its who works the hardest! If you would like to be considered, I need a now picture of you (front, back and sideways – take it with your phone if its easier! I don’t care for quality)… send it to  [photosbyrenata (at) gmail.com] and write a little bit about yourself and your motivations!

The amount of weight you lose is NOT the win factor, however, the more you lose, the more you’ll impress me! :)

You must agree that after the contest is over I will display your before and after pictures.

30 minutes at Deerfield Beach and edited photos on disc.

You’ll have until January 20th to send me your entry. You’ll have 6 months to work your behind off!! I’ll keep you posted on the date of the end of the contest.

Why am I doing this?

1. Because I want to support you and give you a motive to be healthy and happy!

Body Back | Day 2

Forget about my post last night! What I thought it was just a “Let me show you whats ahead of you” class… Was actually a “Im just tickling you” class!

Seriously!!!!!!!! Today I questioned myself tons of times “What did I get myself into!??????”

Day 2 of Body Back was kick A**!!!! It started with a 1/4 mile run [boy! Im so outta shape! Stomach hurts! Legs hurt!] and this was just the start!

Mats on the floor… 5 pounds free weights, exercise ball, bosu ball, water bottle and towel… Ready! Set! Ouch!

It was no joke! But I loved the push! The instructor (Ivie) was amazing!

To end… A little meditation! It closed our class with golden keys! A little room spray with some type of herbal sweet flavor totally surprised us! Thanks Ivie! That was awesome!

Body Back | Day 1

Lets just say… WHAAAAAATT?! (its a good what!)

Before I can start my post I have to explain what “BODY BACK” is.

Here is the best explanation of it… taken from the Stroller Strides website.

“Body Back® is the newest program release from Stroller Strides’ founder Lisa Druxman. It is a results-based workout designed specifically for moms. Whether they just had a baby or had a baby twenty years ago, it will help any mom get her body back. Most importantly, it will help moms unlock their personal possibilities in an inspiring and powerful environment.”

Also according to their website “The workouts have been clinically proven in a University research study to help moms lose the weight and get their pre-baby body back.”

Needless to say… IM GETTING MY BODY BACK!

Today was our DAY 1… got there 5min till, most ladies were gathered around the instructor who had a SCALE and a MEASUREMENT TAPE! [you would think most people would be on the other side away from the scale… not these woman! They were ready!]

We all got measured… and posed for photosBYRENATA <~~ got that?

Time for introduction… wow… you don’t realized how many other moms struggle with the same issues you do until you are in a group like this! Thats why I think this groups will be soooo supportive of each other and so awesome for me!

Some were repeats… ladies that have taken the Body Back class once or twice… lost tons of weight and look great! Others… like me… were there for the 1st time, taking everything in!

Then… off to a little kick in the butt… I have a feeling this was just a “let me show you whats ahead of you” class! The instructor, Ivie Claudio, was no joke! She kicks butt! :)

Push ups, biceps curl, sit ups and squats…. a whole minute of each! Back to back!

Then… planks! If planks had a dislike button I would be the 1st to press! [I hope I don’t get in trouble for saying this! LOL!]

Well… bring it! Of course I was one of the 1st one to let it go! But Im still standing!

I am IN LOVE with my group of Body Back! I don’t think I could of chosen a better group of moms!

Thanks to all of you moms for being part of this with me! I look forward to our next 2 months experiencing together all the butt kicking ahead of us!

New Years Resolution | Totally personal | Motivation

Alright! Today my post will be a little different! Its about me! and trying to help other amazing women!

Well… it all started last year! Here comes the VERY PERSONAL stuff [things i don’t even share with my husband!] but in December 2010 I weighted 185 pounds! Yup! Thats the heaviest I’ve been in my life! It wasn’t me… I didn’t grow up being plus size, I didn’t grow up with knee pains and wearing a 1 piece bathing suit… so when I hit that number on the scale, needless to say… I wasn’t me!

I know after babies most of us can’t help it… and trust me, for a whole year while I was breastfeeding, dieting wasn’t even if my thoughts… however, when I realized that the knee pain and shortest of breath were affecting my everyday life I said “THATS ITS!”.

Dieting just to diet is really hard… you have to focus on something or someone that motivates YOU! 

My motivation was the 2 piece bathing suit! :)

I lost tons of weight right in the beginning of the year and for the rest of the year I was just controlling… and maintaining! Up until Thanksgiving 2011 I was 40 pounds down!!! I went from 185 pounds to 145 pounds… a size 14 to a size 8! [FYI I have a heavy bone structure]

After thanksgiving… its a whole other story! hahahaha!

I gained 5 pounds this holiday season… which its okay! Im not going to beat myself and be depressed! Guess what? I got to eat EVERYTHING I wanted! and I’m happy!

So now… here comes whats new… I NEED to lose the 5 pounds I gained and I would like to lose another 5 pounds this year… don’t they say that the less you have to lose the harder it is? Well… bring it on!

This year Im doing BODY BACK!… I will get into more details on what BB really is. For the mid-time… check out Body Back Facebook Page – sorry if you become interested! They are SOLD OUT! – stay tuned for next session.

This years motivation is still the 2 piece bathing suit!… but also, the fact that I will be joining other moms with the same goal “TO GET OUR BODY BACK!” I hear soooo many good things about this class… Im excited! Anxious! Nervous! Scared! hahahaha
